Annual-Fund drive - 2011
Dear
Community Supporter,
Your local Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department
answered over 3,000 emergency calls for EMS, Fire, Rescue
and Swift Water Rescue services within and around your
community. As a “volunteer” service “you” are a big part of
making this organization continue to exist. Many of you
already know how important your annual contribution is! But
if you are one that doesn’t, let me assure you that without
community support we could not provide the emergency
services you have come to depend on and rightfully deserve.
In addition to providing our life saving and property fi re
protection services, that are so essential to you and your
family, we provide educational programs. We visit the local
schools to enlighten and help train our most precious
resources, our children, in fi re prevention and safety at
home & school.
Your donation dollars are used wisely. We understand that
many are feeling the effects of this economy. So we
carefully allocate your donation to what is needed. For
example, our oldest ambulance has reached its useful
lifetime and replacement is needed ... at a cost of
$220,000. For the future we need to place money aside for
our 18 year old heavy duty rescue squad. This carries
equipment for motor vehicle and industrial accident rescues,
building collapses and other precarious situations. We would
hope to replace this unit by our 75th anniversary in 2013.
The cost for this piece is nearly $750,000.
This is our main request for assistance,
other than a photo fund drive done later. We do not bother
our citizens with telephone solicitations. If you work for a
company that offers matching donations, please check to see
if we can be part of that program! Should you like to find
out more about the department or are interested in joining
as a volunteer, then stop by, contact us online or join us
during our monthly social at the firehouse on the first
Wednesday of every month at 7pm.
