Application FAQ:

How long does Application Reviews take ?
We get quite a number of applications and we are excited about your interest in serving our community. We review and process applications on a monthly basis.

What can slow my Application Review?
If your application is not complete or if you have NOT provided us with the necessary supporting documentations, your application cannot be processed. Please make sure you complete the application and send us the necessary documents.

Do I need to submit the Application Fees if I am already a member of another department ?
Yes you do. We have our own application process, which includes a drug test and background check.

What is the Application Fees used for ?
Our application fees are $90. They support a drug test, background check and initial 2 years of your membership fees.

Will you refund the application fees if I decide NOT to join ?
We cannot refund your application fees. So, please be sure before you submit the application, documents and the fees.

Do I need to submit all of the requested forms?
Yes. A complete Application includes the Application, all of the required documents, your application fees and your references. All of the forms are required before your application can be reviewed.

Why do you require the "department recommendation form" ?
We only required this form, if you are a current or former member of another Volunteer Department within BCoFD. This can help us possibly fast track your application, understand and mentor you through any challenges you had at your previous station.

What is the "In-Person" Meeting for?
The In-Person meeting helps both of us to get to know each other and address any questions we have. At this meeting, you will have access to senior members, active members and leadership of our department. We want to make sure we are everything you expected us to be, before you join.

When can I start riding the ambulance and fire trucks?
That really depends on you. There are State, County and AVFD requirements that must be met before you can ride our apparatus and serve our community. We will provide you with all the resources and mentorship you need to help you meet those requirements. You decide how rapid or deliberate you want to be in reaching that goal.
